In a spell of dry weather, when the Birds could find very little to drink, a thirsty Crow found a pitcher with a little water in it. But the pitcher was high and had a narrow neck, and no matter how he tried, the Crow could not reach the water. The poor thing felt as if he must die of thirst.

　　有一段时间，天气很干燥，鸟儿们很难找到水喝。一只渴的嗓子冒烟的乌鸦，发现了一个大水罐，里面有一丁点水。但是，这个水罐很高，瓶颈又很窄，无论乌鸦怎么努力，都没办法喝到。可怜的小东西，感觉自己仿佛要因为口渴而死去。

　　Then an idea came to him. Picking up some small pebbles, he dropped them into the pitcher one by one. With each pebble the water rose a little higher until at last was near enough so he could drink.

　　突然，乌鸦想到了一个主意。它用嘴叼起小块的鹅卵石，把石头一个个投进水罐里面。每投进一块小石子，瓶里的水面就升高一点点。最后，水面终于上升到了乌鸦可以够着到的地方，它终于喝到了水!
