A stork of a very simple and tursting nature had been asked by a gay party of Cranes to visit a field that had been newly planted. But the party ended dismally with all the birds entangled in the meshes of the Farmer’s net.
 
        有一只鹳，本性十分天真淳朴，容易信任别人。一次，一群鹤邀请它到一块新种植的农田里，参加一个欢乐的聚会。但是，狂欢却以灾难收场，所有的鸟都被农夫的网罩住了。
 
        The Stork begged the Farmer to spare him.
 
         鹳苦苦哀求，请农夫放了自己。
 
         “please let me go,” he pleaded. “I belong to the stork family who you know are honest and birds of good charcter. Besides, I did not know the Cranes were going to steal.”
 
         “请放我走吧！”鹳恳求道，“我是属于鹳家族的，您知道，这个家族诚实正直、品行优良。而且，我并不知道鹤打算偷东西。”
 
         “You may be a very good bird, ”answered the Farmer, “but I caught you with the theving Cranes and you will have to share the same punishment with them.”
 
          “也许你是一只很好的鸟儿，”农夫回答，“但是，我抓住你的时候，你是和这群偷窃的鹤在一起，你应该和它们得到同样的惩罚。”
