A：Can you tell me where you
live? In a flat or a house?
B：We're living in a house in
the Shanghai suburbs.
A：Is it big or small?
B：Well, it's neither too big
nor too small. It consists
of two floors. A staircase leads from the hall to the
second floor.
A：How many rooms are there in the house?
B：Let me see…three bedrooms, one living room, one dining
room, one kitchen, and two bathrooms. Yes, eight in all,
excepting an attic under the roof of the house and one
garage attached to the house.
A：Where do you put things that you don't use too often?
B：There's plenty of storage space in the garage. Usually
the things are kept there. The attic is yet another room
for my grandparents to store boxes in.
A: Have you got air-conditioning?
B: yes, one for each room, and a heater, too.
A: May I visit your house right now?
B: Why not! I’II show you the way.
A: Wow! What a nice and cozy house! Upstairs are the three bedrooms and one bathroom?
B: yes, That’s right, and all the rest are downstairs.
A: shall we now go and see the big balcony?
B: yes, this way please. It looks out over the flower-filled garden in front of the house.
It has a beautiful view.
A: What sort of flowers and trees grow in the garden?
B: They’er peonies, azalea’ roses’ Tulips and som fruit trees.
A: Now, who’s trimming the trees there?
B: It’s my paternal grandpa.
A: It seems he has a green thumb.
B: Exactiy! My grandpa planted those fruit trees, when I was born, in the hope that I would grow up as strong as the trees.
